Most people have the wrong outlook on hair in that they believe if something is applied to it, it will be the silver bullet that promotes growth, volume or shine; however, the true friend of your hair isn’t what t you put on it, but what you put in it by the foods that you eat. I will list 5 foods that promote hair growth.
#1 Water—although water isn’t a “food” it’s still the basic life force we all need in that it supports every part of our body. Proper water consumption nourishes the skin and keeps it from being dry and flakey. Many issues with the hair are actually issues of the skin. If your skin is dry and flaky, it will mitigate healthy growth of the hair. For this reason, proper water consumption (1/2 of your body weight in oz. daily is necessary.)
#2 Spinach and Dark Leafy Greens—the darker the green the more nutrient dense it is. Dark greens contain high amounts of iron, folate, vitamin A and C which promotes collagen production. This is what helps and aids in the hair growth process.
#3 Eggs—although eggs contain high amounts of cholesterol, they also contain high amounts of biotin, which is the holy grail of hair growth. Many times, biotin will be supplemented and suggested for those who desire to grow their hair.
#4 Nuts and Seed—nuts and seeds have high amounts of Omega 3 fatty Acids. Not only are they rich in Omega 3 fatty acids, they are also full of protein and other essential micronutrients that lead to hair growth.
#5 Fruits (mainly citrus and berries)—Fruits that are high in Vitamin C are great additions to the diet because of the impact that vitamin C has on fee radicals. The antioxidants found in Vitamin C helps to reduce free radicals in the body. Free radicals are things that damage the body in many ways. When it’s less of them, collagen production can nourish healthy hair growth.
